The Unified Rhymers Napiform Institution of Poetry.

Well, we've got a couple of members now. From here, if anyone wants to submit a piece of theirs for scrutiny, we'll check it out and have a nice debate. With cups of tea and crumpets. And bowler hats.

I'm very interested on hearing the general thoughts on what makes a good poem at the moment. There are a lot of things to be considered outside of rhyme of course, but what do you think of the topic in general? Chances are I'll comprise the emergent themes into a deviation if it goes well.

You may continue about your business.

Hello and welcome to The Unified Rhymers Napiform Institution of Poetry.

We are an Institute of rhyming poets.

We aim to spread the reputation of rhyming poetry in a predominantly free verse world, and act as a centre where rhyming poets can check out other users and advance the form.

The Institution was founded by two users:

aladdin-sane

dirk-cjeli

To join the club, send a note and we'll check you out, and send a note back with yes/no. Then you just gotta put our avatar at the end of each journal and say something on occasion, and we're good.

Any member is free to submit work to the institute to be criticised and commented on.

That's about it.

Well, I'm gonna be a bit busy for a few days... I'm going 45 minutes away to sleep over a friend's house, then when I come home tomorrow, I'm going to the movies with Jen, and Saturday I'm preparing for Sunday, which is my mom's b-day. Might I add that yesterday was my dad's b-day and today is my uncle's? e.x; Busy busy. Just wanted to let you know.

Hmmmmm.... mighty interesting. You do, of course, realize that rhyme isn't what distinguishes a poem from the foolishness that has been inadequately dubbed free-verse, yes? The distinguishing factor, is in fact, verse. For verse to exist there must be a distinguishing characteristic. A limitation, if you will. That limitation may be rhyme, but rhyme istelf is only one characteristic. Others are rythm, syllable, alliteration, etc. etc. etc. Ryhming is wonderful, but don't forget to use all means in your grasp to combat the fallacy of free-verse.

Of course, I just felt was rather the defining characteristic of those elements - it would be useless to rhyme without those other elements you've mentioned. I just thought they were more inherent to the craft. I mean, would you make a club based on good rythme? It's less attractive, and much less definable.

Got the link from a great guy, ~ down-sideup I don't rhyme much, rhyme a little. Sometimes. Not a predominately (misspelled, I think) rhyming poet though. Just wanted to let you know that I'm a walking billboard and I am, without a doubt, going to advertise you to any rhymers I find. I'll tell ~BookJVWorm about you first. Young, great, rhyming poet. I'll be watching this group of people.

Says he's a poet
This time he's gonna blow it
'Cause he's dancing with his ego
I took a vow of silence
When he reads his work to me
I swallow words like a placebo
